After woodfordvalley.net was hacked by spammers and then suspended - decided it was time to do a little work on the site. www.woodfordvalley.net will be for fixed content e.g. nice walks, information about clubs, b&b's etc. www2.woodfordvalley.net will be web 2.0 and will contain anything that changes - news items, events, photos and discussion forums. Hopefully users will sign up and take over. As soon as we have a critical mass then it should start to run itself.

Have integrated a gallery into www.woodfordvalley.net It is now possible to upload photos and video and store them in a number of albums. User's can create their own albums, search for photos and vote on which items they like best. Look forward to seeing some photos other than mine!

As well as displaying all the events going on the valley, the calendar can be used to view information submitted to the website.

The Vision

WoodfordValley.net is The Bridge on-line. A local magazine that is updated in real time, with photos and videos. That is written by all of us – not just a few. A place where we can respond as well as listen. Most of us now have broadband and regularly turn to the internet for information. Before long the web will be on all of our phones. In order to take advantage of these things then we need the information to be there. Our hope is that WoodfordValley.net is the place to go to read and submit local information.

After article in The Bridge users are starting to appear! Have enabled "books" and created a book for recording the names of the faces in Toddy's photo-book, "Summer in the Woodford Valley". Have also created a book called Yellow Pages to enable businesses to create their own web pages and one called Home Pages for individuals and organisations. Have started defining a few categories in preparation for advanced searches, private forums and other possibilities. Have implemented an include image feature for all posts.

There is no charge for WoodfordValley.net and we are also committed to being ad-free. It is a site for the Woodford Valley created by the Woodford Valley. There are of course costs and so we do accept donations. Donations from individuals and not-for-profit organisations are not expected but welcome. Donations from businesses are expected but not obligatory. For businesses the suggested rates are £10 a year for a basic home page. £20 a year for anything more. You can either donate to the costs of running the site or you can donate something to the webmaster.
