Your Parish Councils
The Woodford Valley is served by 2 Parish Councils (The Woodfords; and Durnford & Netton). Lake, due to its lower population, has an "Annual Meeting".
Both Parish Councils (PCs) presently come under the jurisdiction of Salisbury District Council - one of the 5 districts which make up the County of Wiltshire. With Unitary status for Wiltshire now confirmed to take effect from April 2009 (the 5 districts will go) we can expect to see some changes (perhaps in boundaries, numbers of elected members, and increased responsibilities) - but what exactly they might be, nobody yet knows.
What is clear, however, is that there will continue to be local representation, elected by you. The PCs exist to represent your interests and those of the Valley, so if you have an issue, do contact one of your Councillors.
Members of the Parish are welcome to attend respective Parish Council Meetings (held quarterly), as well as at individual meetings convened to consider local planning applications (held at short notice to comply with regulations, with details posted on Parish notice boards).
Woodford Parish Council. There are 7 elected members:
Guy Rasch (Chairman), Trevor Baird, Bob Edwards, Robert Gulliver, Fiona Patterson, Lucinda Holbrook, Ian Stevens.
Parish Clerk: Wendy Rountree (also Clerk to Durnford & Netton PC).
Next PC meeting: Tuesday 10 June 2008. Location: Middle Woodford Village Hall.
