MINUTES OF THE PARISH MEETING OF DURNFORD PARISH COUNCIL held on 4 March 2008

Five elected members of the Parish Council were present.

No members of the public attended.

There were no matters arising from the Minutes of the Parish Meeting held on the 7 March 2007.

MEETING of Durnford Parish Council held on Tuesday 4 March 2008

PRESENT: Mr S G Langdon (Chairman), Mr N Gallop, Mr N Southey, Maj Gen J Templer and Mrs R Stiles.

APOLOGIES: Mrs V Hawkings and Mr D Southey. Cllr K Wren and Cllr S Dennis.

It was agreed that the Clerk write to Cllr Dennis with a copy to Cllr P Sample as to why she had been unable to attend a meeting of the Durnford Parish Council since the local elections in May 2007 as her presence at meetings would be much appreciated

Matters arising

The new procedure for planning matters was discussed. If an application was in any way contentious a site meeting had to be arranged and notices pinned on the to the village notice boards giving the public three days notice before the due date of the meeting. The site meeting had to be held by a quorum of the Parish Council. The Clerk would email or telephone the Councillors as soon as an application was received. The application would be handed to the Chairman in the usual way.

The Clerk to write to National Probation Office requesting that litter be cleared from the hedgerows in Great Durnford.

Planning matters since last meeting

S/2008/38/39 – The High Post Inn, High Post, Salisbury. Extensions to hotel to provide 90 new bedrooms and new leisure club with car parking and access.

S/2008/8002 – Land to west of A345 and Mahle Tennex High Post, Salisbury. Erection of New Salt Store depot – this application was opposed by the Parish Council.

S/2008/299 – Land at Middle Barn Farm, New Bottom Road, Stratford sub Castle. Erection of new building silos fence and associated site works and landscaping to form additional water treatment works (Wessex Water). Wessex Water Services Ltd. Claverton Down Road, Claverton Down, Bath. It was decided that for landscape impact it would be preferred if the new building was erected nearer the road.

Any other business:-

It was agreed that the Clerk would arrange for the compactor vehicle to attend at Great Durnford in early September.

The Clerk would write to the Wiltshire Highways Authority to enquire the statutory width of rights of way, in particular the Durnford Track.

The Clerk would write to Nick Cowan the Rights of Way Manager to enquire whether the Matters regarding rights of way in the Parish previously brought before him had been dealt with.

It was agreed that the Minutes should go on the Woodford Website in their draft form before they had been agreed by the Parish Councillors.
