Synopsis: Meryl persuades her fellow club mates that Africa is the new Asia and that great riches abound for all those brave enough to invest now. Messrs France and Barrow protest that no good can possible come out of the chaos, but after several months enough members are persuaded and they jump aboard the good ship, Lonrho. For a while things look good, but a butterfly flaps it wings in the USA and a great tsunami rocks the Lonrho. It starts to sink rapidly, Meryl stands on the bridge screaming at the crew that all will be well and indeed with the Lonrho almost 90% sunk things turn and the situation starts to improve. However the power is now with the doubters and the decision to jump ship is forced through. Meryl fights it to the end but is over powered. She swims home a forlorn figure only grateful that the 20 ounces of gold and 662 ounces of silver she persuaded the club to buy have grown in value so much. To be continued ...
