The latest version of skype (download for free from www.skype.com) includes an option to share your screen with one of your contacts.

If you ever find yourself trying to explain over a phone how to use a computer then being able to see what your friend is doing will make it a hundred times easier. No more "the window's disappeared!", "I can't find a start button" or "there is no menu called File".

Once you have downloaded skype and connected to each other then the person looking for support must right click on their contact and use Share Your Screen. This will also start a voice call as well.
