Round Salisbury Bike Ride
Submitted by admin on Mon, 14/06/2010 - 22:58.
It's my 40th birthday on 29th June and I would like to cycle around Salisbury to celebrate and then drink some beer.
Here is the route: http://tinyurl.com/ 365jef6 (although I need to check it is still possible to cross the Avon south of Salisbury).
The plan is to set off from the phone box in Netton at about 6pm cycling for about 2 hours. (the route is 27 miles). Then have something to eat and a few beers at the end.

I may even try and organise a feeding station half way round. We'd basically cycle as a group and if we split on any of the ascents would regroup at the top. If one group of riders gets really hungry/thirsty and wants to push on to the pub we could also split. If there is enough of us we could also have a support vehicle following behind with extra bottles of beer and a large bike rack!
John.
P.S. There is an alternative shorter ride for those not too keen on the longer distance. Rather than turning left at Dean's Farm turn right and follow the road to the pub. It should save a couple of hours and 25 miles.
