Tug of War
Sunday 3rd June at 1.30pm

 

Celebrating the spirit of competition, the gauntlet of a tug of war challenge open to those inside and outside the Woodford Valley on Sunday 3rd June, starting at 1.30pm.  The event will take place 100m south of The Wheatsheaf Pub, opposite Swallow Cottage & Winterwood houses in Lower Woodford, in the water meadow.

Caution:               Tug of War is a very physical sport so injuries can occur.  Participants will be expected to be

                                generally fit and healthy and for each team, players taking part will be required to have completed

                                and signed off an event waiver release form.  The event crosses water and participants may get wet.

 

RULES

·           Teams of 8 (male or female – no mixed teams) are invited to enter. Each member must be 18 years or older.

·           A minimum of 2 teams of men or 2 teams of women will make the event possible as a competition.

·           The Tug of War will be an open weight event.

·           Comfortable clothing to prevent skin injuries should be worn.

·           Sensible footwear is required (boots are recommended) due to ground conditions. No spikes or studs, or steel toe cap boots.

·           No gloves will be allowed.

 

Team Registration & Waiver Release Forms

All teams must register with the organiser and all teams are to have a captain.

Deadline for registration is 6pm, Friday 1 June 2012.

Payment of £10 cash or cheque payable to ‘Woodford Valley Jubilee Event’

 

Captains should submit in an A4 or A5 envelope the following to the organiser by the Deadline:*

1)        Entry Form (available for download here or collected from the organiser direct)

2)        £10 Entry Fee payment (cash or cheque)

3)        Event Waiver Release Forms completed and signed by each individual team member, available for download here

 

*if for any unavoidable reason a team player is unable to get their personal Waiver Release Form to their Captain ahead of the Deadline, they will be allowed to present it on the day at the organisers tent from

12 – 1pm on Sunday 3rd June.  However an incomplete team will not be allowed to compete for insurance purposes and the organiser’s decision is final.

On the Day:

ALL TEAMS to arrive by 1pm please and confirm their arrival with the organiser at the organiser’s tent.

The competition will start at 1.30pm.

The organiser’s decision is final.

Participants should bring along their own water or other refreshments.

In the event of bad weather the organiser reserves the right to cancel the Tug of War competition and any decision would be made on the day.  

First aid will be located at the organiser’s tent.

A prize will be given to the winning men’s team and women’s team respectively.

Spectators are welcome. 

Parking is 100m north of the pub opposite the Manor House. Please do not park on the verges in the village or by the side of the road near the meadow where the event is taking place. Thank you.

Health & Safety:
Participants in the Tug of War are advised to bring their own water or suitable non-alcoholic refreshments to stay hydrated and bring any light snacks with them.  Please take ALL your rubbish with you from the meadow on exiting.
The Organiser recommends that participants and members of the public do not to consume alcohol during the event to avoid the risk of accident or injury.
The site presents a natural water hazard as it takes place over a small stream with a sluice nearby.  Children must be accompanied by an adult and supervised by that responsible person(s) at all times when in the meadow for the event.
