Gardening Club
The Woodford Valley Gardening Club was set up around 15 years ago at the instigation of Canon John Reynolds.
The Club exists for anyone with an interest in gardening (from complete novice to the experienced "sage"!).
We welcome residents throughout the Woodford Valley and the Club is equally open to members and visitors from Salisbury and surrounding villages. Everyone is welcome to join - perhaps try us us out as a Visitor - and if you like what you find, we are sure you will find the Annual Membership fee very reasonable* (*see below).
Meetings are held through the year on a mainly monthly basis, usually on the first Wednesday of Every Month. Some weekend dates do appear from time to time during Spring / Summer to allow for special events like a garden crawl through a Members' garden or a visit somewhere more distant than usual. Full diary dates are also listed in the Woodford Valley Net Calendar and the 2007/08 Schedule is summarised as follows:
All meetings are at The Village Hall in Middle Woodford, Nr Salisbury SP4 6NR unless otherwise stated. Postcode supplied for those visiting with satellite navigation, or go to the bottom of the handle of The Plough on any clear, cold wintry night.
START TIMES
Meetings start at 7.30pm (unless otherwise stated ie AGM).

Wednesday 6 February - AGM 7.00pm. Talk 7.30pm - Speaker TBC "Management of the River Avon - Gardening on a Grand Scale".
We try to have a wide variety of speakers each year and contrast from year to year. We aim to reflect the everyday gardener's issues to topically include good management, crossed with, we hope some inspiration. Recent talks have included some wider topics reflecting the surrounding Wiltshire countryside, the Avon, farming and wildlife.
We do however always need to have some much needed old chesnuts to pepper the list and serve as a welcome reminder to even the hardiest gardener.
eg. pruning, useful plant group types, perennials, propagation, lawns, composting, seasonal maintenance + specialist subjects to keep interest up. The meetings will either involve invited guest speakers on particular topic, events or trips.
We garden here on mainly free draining chalk soil - just look over anyone's garden wall and see what is growing well.
